Dr. Deb LaPaugh
Medical Director
Dr. LaPaugh graduated from The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She worked in Syracuse, New York, for several years before moving to Oregon. She then worked in several animal hospitals as a relief veterinarian in Portland and Central Oregon before building LaPaw Animal Hospital in Bend, Oregon. Dr. LaPaugh has special interests in surgery and exotic animals. She has 3 cats at home and 2 rabbits plus 2 cats and a rat at LaPaw Animal Hospital. Dr. Deb loves the boring stuff of life, such as reading, but she also skis, hikes, and bikes like a good Central Oregonian.
Started at LaPaw Animal Hospital: January 2001
Education: University of Pennsylvania
Interests: reading, skiing, biking, taking my dogs on adventures, and enjoying all the beauty of Bend.
Dr. Jonathan Schlossberg
Dr. Jonathan Schlossberg is very excited to announce his employment at LaPaw Animal Hospital and is excited to join its amazing family. His Bachelor of Science is in pre-professional biology from the University of West Florida. He obtained his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2020 and graduated with honors. During his time there he learned how to treat and take care of both large and small animals and worked as a dissector for the anatomy labs. He attended his clinical year at Oregon State University and fell in love with the people and pristine nature of Oregon.
Since his graduation Dr. Schlossberg has worked at Banfield Pet Hospital in Hillsboro for almost 3 years. He is relocating to the Bend where he hopes to raise his 8-month-old son Milo, live a life full of adventure with his wife Nina and two dogs, Nano and Limon. He has an interest in surgery and modern medicine. He likes to involve diet for treating common diseases and allergies that our fur kids tend to get. He likes to focus on client education and how to prevent disease before it occurs. Dr. Schlossberg is fear free certified; he strives to provide stress free hospital visits and he always likes to consider how he would feel if he had the same insult/disease occurring to himself. He understands that in veterinary medicine there isn’t only one way to treat disease thus he appreciates open communication, consulting with his peers, clients and staff in order to better serve his patients.
Dr. Schlossberg was born in CT but lived for over two decades in Jerusalem, Israel and served 3 years in the Israeli military. He moved back to the United States in order to pursue his dream of becoming a veterinarian. His hobbies include soccer, ultra-running, trail running, hiking, scuba diving, cooking and spending time with his son. He would love to learn how to wall climb, mountain bike and ski. He follows a plant-based diet and his senior paper during his clinical year was about how a plant-based diet can prevent disease in dogs. He has always dreamt of becoming a veterinarian since he was a little child and it is his pleasure and honor to serve you, your beloved pets and the community.
